Narrative, Messaging, Sales

Stop Leading With Features. Start With the Problem You Solve.

Buyers don't buy features. They buy relief from a problem. Reframing your narrative around that changes everything.

·1 min read

Feature-first messaging is the default for most B2B companies, and it's almost always wrong. Buyers don't evaluate features in isolation. They evaluate whether a product solves a problem they currently have.

Features vs. problems

When you lead with features, you're asking buyers to do the mental work of connecting your capabilities to their pain. Most won't. When you lead with the problem, you're meeting them where they already are.

The product is the solution. The problem is the story. Start with the story.

The narrative reframe

A narrative reframe means restructuring your messaging to open with the buyer's experience, not your product's capabilities. You're not describing what you built. You're describing the before state that makes someone ready to buy.
